'The Psychedelic Guide to Preparation of the Eucharist is the work of the fascinating if farcical Neo-American Church, which was founded in 1966 by Arthur Kleps at Timothy Leary’s Millbrook house. Kleps, who christened himself Chief Boo Hoo and was a belligerent believer in the power of acid, claimed that LSD was the sacrament for his church; when one of his “ministers” was put on trial for possession in 1968, he argued the Neo-American Church’s use of LSD should be protected by law just as peyote was with the Native American Church. They lost the case, partly because the judge felt that an organization that had “Row, Row Your Boat” as its main hymn could not be taken seriously.' (Anthology Editions). VERY GOOD. Item #515148
