[8, 391, [4] pp. + Index [4] and ads [5]. 8vo, Cambridge panelled calf with raised bands, burgundy morocco label with gilt stamped lettering and gilt stamped spine fleurons. 'Ex dono authoris' to which institution unclear but with their plain paper spine label. Edges rubbed but hinges remain strong and interior text clean and sharp with sporatic emendations in a contemporary hand. Thomas Bennet was an eminent Anglican divine born in Salisbury in 1673. After an M.A. degree at Cambridge, he was rector of St. James's at Colchester and then vicar of St. Giles's in London. Much of his work was directed against Catholics and Dissenters, the latter shown here in his case against congregational rule. [McClintock & Strong]. VERY GOOD. Item #504747
