"English Folio" 13.5 x 10.5, full black pebble-grained calfskin leather over boards, matte black endpapers, gilt spine lettering, blind ruled borders to covers and spine panels, raised bands. Recently rejointed with leather reinforced hinges in matching black calf, now entirely sound and sturdy. Tips a bit worn, gilt rubbed along fore tail in typical fashion from page turning, a few repaired pages, torn corner of NT 213/214 with a few words lost to Colossians 1. Alternate readings in margins with Appendix of American Revision Committee dissenting translations. "English" = 14 pt typeface. Large-format lectern or pulpit Bible which saw regular usage but remains unmarked and quite sound and sturdy. A scarce copy of the RV in this towering format. We do not know of any later printings; while respected for its scholarly advancement, the RV did not see widespread parish adoption. Item #1907
