Once ubiquitous, the bookseller-publisher did not survive as a business model much past the invention of machine type. One notable exception happened to be one of the finest scholarly publishing concerns on Planet Earth, E. J. Brill of Leiden. Here, in 1959, they offer a used book catalog comprised exclusively of the library of Enno Littmann, the towering giant of Ancient Near Eastern philology. Published as a price catalog with introductory essay, it doubles as a unique bibliographic window into a great scholar's career.
