Charles Kerr was perhaps the leading American publisher of leftist and radical labor material around the turn of the century. "Poverty of Philosophy" was published immediately after the final installment of their landmark English edition of Capital and during the second year of their widely circulated and influential magazine, "International Socialist Review"
